A charming stone cottage with all modern facilities, Suaimhneas (Gaelic for Calm or Tranquility) is blessed with a scenic location on the Mizen Head that is both secluded and yet convenient to all the main tourist attractions in this beautiful part of West Cork. It has superb views overlooking Dunmanus Cove. The Mizen Head divides into two headlands, Mizen Head itself, where you can visit the Mizen Vision
The other headland, called Three Castles Head, has magnificent castle ruins overlooking a lagoon - these are on private land and can be accessed on foot by the more adventurous.
Other interesting places to visit include the Sheeps Head; Cape Clear Island, Bantry House; Glengariff; Garnish Island and the Beara Peninsula. Both of the neighbouring peninsulas, the Sheep's Head and the Beara, have waymarked walks for hikers. Activities available nearby include: Sailing (junior courses in Schull and Crookhaven), Golfin Skibbereen, Bandon, Schull, and Bantry Park, Hiking/Biking Trails, Horseback riding, and Scuba Diving.
There are some quality restaurants locallythe Altar in Toormore,
Blairs Cove and Herons Cove. Schull and Bantry also have several
restaurants. The nearest towns are Schull (7 miles), Durrus (8 miles) and Bantry (15
