A charming stone cottage with all modern facilities, Suaimhneas (Gaelic for Calm or Tranquility) is blessed with a scenic location on the Mizen Head that is both secluded and yet convenient to all the main tourist attractions in this beautiful part of West Cork. It has superb views overlooking Dunmanus Cove.

There is a quiet sheltered beach 5 minutes walk from the house and Ballyrisode, a very safe sandy beach is 10 minutes drive away. Barleycove, another fabulous beach with blue flag accreditation, is about 20 minutes drive

The other headland, called Three Castles Head, has magnificent castle ruins overlooking a lagoon - these are on private land and can be accessed on foot by the more adventurous.

Other interesting places to visit include the Sheep’s Head; Cape Clear Island, Bantry House; Glengariff; Garnish Island and the Beara Peninsula. Both of the neighbouring peninsulas, the Sheep's Head and the Beara, have waymarked walks for hikers.

Activities available nearby include: Sailing (junior courses in Schull and Crookhaven), Golf—in Skibbereen, Bandon, Schull, and Bantry Park, Hiking/Biking Trails, Horseback riding, and Scuba Diving.

There are some quality restaurants locally—the Altar in Toormore, Blair’s Cove and Heron’s Cove. Schull and Bantry also have several restaurants.
